The Waves.

Thoughts & feelings: don’t overthink it.

TLDR: I recount a moment in time when I allowed my thoughts to interfere with authentic storytelling. I encourage the reader to remember that time spent in the deep should meet its counterpart— riding the wave.

Every entrepreneur reaches a point where they must make a decision: to ride the wave or to explore the deep.

Early on in my journey with CACE + CO Skincare, I created a post on TikTok for our Hydrating Hair Treatment called DWELL. Dwell created the shiniest, bounciest, softest, natural curls I have ever had in my life. No professional had ever achieved such results with so little effort.

At first, the post's impact seemed minimal, and I dismissed the post and platform. Yet, revisiting it nearly a year later, I find it watched almost 5,000 times in its entirety.

Reflecting on this, I acknowledge my hesitancy to embrace the platform and my capacity to engage with yet another viral space. Doubts about the formula, its reception, and the challenge of managing another social media platform filled my thoughts. As a marketing professional, I grappled with the noise and considered perfecting my approach before fully embracing the potential of something new. I chose the safer route—exploring deeper.

What if, instead of worrying about the quality of my content, I embraced its raw and authentic nature? What if I didn't take myself too seriously and just focused on being true to my brand (- which is me, hello?)? As a marketing professional, I understand the importance of branding, even when I'm not fully invested in it. Because if I'm honest, even when I don't care, why shouldn't I want to be #onbrand?

This contemplation leads me to encourage you to ride the wave. For those profoundly committed to their craft, who have spent considerable time exploring the depths and honing their skills, remember that time spent in the deep should meet its counterpart—the thrill of riding the wave and sharing newfound knowledge or skills with others.

Learn from my experience—the rush of excitement from learning something new in your field meets you when you apply it publicly. Let your work surface above the waves, allowing the world to witness your smile of accomplishment. Embrace the audacity to revel in the joy of growth and application.

May your work bring hope and inspire others. I celebrate your journey!

Come up for air and ride the waves, young grasshopper.
